Within counselling I am able to offer you the space to talk through whatever may be troubling you at the moment, in a confidential and non-judgemental environment.  I will listen to you and offer my full support as you explore your issues, aiming to help you gain a clearer perspective on these.

For some people, counselling is about finding different ways to manage life’s issues, others want to work on accepting a situation in life or making changes to their life.  Initially we will begin by talking through what you want to focus on in your counselling sessions, and consider what you would like to achieve whilst coming for counselling.

As we work together, at your pace, you can begin to understand yourself and your situation better, and have the opportunity to find a way forward that is right for you.

In addition to offering counselling for individuals, I also offer counselling sessions for couples, which provides an opportunity and environment to work on relationship issues.  Couples can gain an understanding of how problems may have developed in their relationship, and find new ways to approach issues in the future.

I offer both short and long term work.

Training, Qualifications and Experience

My training as an integrative counsellor means I am able to draw on more than one therapeutic approach depending on your needs. These include the Person-Centred approach, Transactional Analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I also have a particular interest in working with Attachment theory.

Foundation Degree in Counselling, consisting of;

  • – Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling
  • – Diploma in Integrative Humanistic Counselling
  • – Certificate in Counselling Studies
  • – Certificate in Counselling Skills

Open University modules;

  • – Counselling: Exploring fear and sadness
  • – Exploring Psychology
  • – Understanding Social Change

Advanced post diploma certificate in Person Centred Couples Work

I have gained a good amount of experience of working as a counsellor within different organisations, including the City Counselling Centre, MK where I saw people from their busy drop-in service, Options Wellbeing where I worked with gambling addicts, and The Practice MK where my work included offering counselling for trauma, couples work, and those having just received a diagnosis of autism.

In addition to this, I have my own private practice where I work with people presenting with a wide variety of issues and complexities.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and have been awarded accreditation status with them, which means I have demonstrated to them a high standard of knowledge, experience and development.  I have monthly supervision for all of my work.

To me, working as a counsellor is a privilege as I am given the opportunity to come alongside people and offer help and support with their problems.  If you feel I would be suited to you, I would be happy to work with you as your counsellor.
